IBZ offers complex contract research and consulting in the processing of raw materials and extensive experiences in geotechnics.

General information

Company profile

IBZ-Salzchemie GmbH & Co. KG, a globally active, integrated consulting and service company, was founded in 2003. We offer complex services and solutions for research and development from laboratory to pilot plant scale, from complex process development in inorganic chemical engineering to process optimization. The processing of mineral resources, including strategic raw materials, has been our business for many years. Our geotechnical and geochemical work focuses on innovative materials and technologies for rock sealing and grouting. This includes both provoked mineral formation processes and conventional grouting materials. Our repertoire also includes innovative ideas for the in-situ immobilization of contaminants and the development of special construction materials, e.g. as backfill material or for sealing of waste rock piles. Modern analytical technology, including ICP-OES, AAS, HPLC, GC, DTA/TG, enables rapid analysis tailored to the problems to be solved.

Products & Services

Based on more than 20 years of experiences in the cooperation with companies worldwide we offer complex contract research up to the pilot scale in
– Crystallization (by evaporation, cooling or in vacuum),
– Flotation,
– Leaching / Precipitation / Water treatment,
– Liquid-liquid extraction,
– Solid-liquid separation (by centrifugation or filtration by means of filter presses or candle filters),
– Membrane separation.
Complex, customer-specific reaction systems can be set up that can be operated both in batch mode and continuously with throughputs of up to 20 kg/h. Complex remote-controlled equipment enables the generation of all the data required for successful upscaling of the processes. This is supported by modeling the processes using the latest physico-chemical software.
IBZ also has extensive experience in solving geotechnical problems such as fighting water inflows in mines, developing backfill materials and sealing waste rock dumps and tailings.

References and export activities

The recovery of lithium from sources was investigated for companies in Chile and Canada. The production of salt or fertilizers was studied for companies situated in Germany, Brazil, Canada, Turkey, Russia and Israel. Projects dealing with the crystallization of selected compounds have been realized for companies in Canada and Kazakhstan.
Geotechnical projects have been reealized in Belgium, Canada and Chile.

Target group

Mining industry, companies dealing with the processing of raw materials / strategic minerals, producer of special chemicals, geotechnical companies, construction companies realizing geotechnical projects

Competitive advantages

All tests are carried out on the basis of more than 20 years of experience in Chemical Engineering or Geotechnics. This enables us to offer pilot-scale tests in both batch and continuous operation. For that special apparatuses are available that allow operation up to 140 °C in both the acidic and alkaline range. All investigations are carried out by a team with over 20 years of experiences in conducting research projects.

Ideal Business Partners

Companies or agencies searching for research partners to develop new technologies or to enhance existing. Companies looking for contractors to develop special technologies or special process steps. Companies or project developer looking for independent experts for a “second opinion”. Companies dealing with geotechnical constructions.
